The ADHD assessment pathway for Adults in Lincolnshire
Lincolnshire NHS commission ADHD services for Adults from other local Lincolnshire providers who hold a current contract with the NHS to ensure high quality and service.
They are all monitored regularly.
These services are available for patients aged 16 and above who are presenting with ADHD symptoms that are moderately to severely impacting more than one area of their life.
Our wait time for GPs to hear whether a referral for an adult assessment has been approved or not is currently
These wait times are from the date the GP’s referral is received by the panel, and this is subject to change depending on demand
If the referral is accepted as clinically appropriate for assessment (as per NICE guidelines), the current wait time from this point to assessment is currently
When you are near the top of this waiting list, the team will contact your GP to inform them of the provider allocated for assessment.
Whilst all referrals are important, the NHS uses a RAG (Red, Amber, Green) rating system to help prioritise ADHD assessments based on urgency and individual needs.
Due to the high demand for the service please inform your GP or referrer at your earliest convenience if you no longer require an assessment. Informing us that an assessment is no longer required helps the service in reducing wait times for other people on our waiting list.

The independent practitioner will then contact you within 12 – 16 weeks to discuss the assessment in more detail. They may require further information from you to support the assessment.
Please note that there may be some variation to the assessment process depending on the provider that is allocated.
Recommendations will be sent to the GP or referrer on the next steps to support you.
